What is the exam registration fee?
  • For members USD 325

Where do I take the exam? The CCBA is administered by Prometric at testing centers worldwide. Click here to register for the exam find a testing center near you.
What is the format of the exam? The exam consists of multiple choices with four possible answers from which to select. Some questions are based on "comprehension" (e.g., definition, recall, etc.) and others are based on "situational analysis" (e.g. given a scenario, which is the best course of action) where the applicant must perform analysis to arrive at the answer. It is neither all of one type or the other but covers a range of Blooms taxonomy.
What are the pre-requisites of the exam?

IIBA has the following pre-requisites for CCBA exam:

  • Minimum 3750 hours of BA work experience aligned with the BABOKGuide in the last seven years
  • Minimum 900 hours in two of the six knowledge areas, or 500 hours in four of the six knowledge areas
  • Minimum 21 hours of Professional Development in the past four years
  • Two references from a career manager, client or CBAPrecipient
  • Signed Code of Conduct
How many questions are asked in the exam? The exam contains 150 questions.
What is the duration of the exam? 210 minutes
What is the passing score? 500

What is the exam's retake policy?

In the event that you fail your first attempt at passing the CCBA examination, IIBA's retake policy is:

  • If the applicant does not pass the CCBA exam, he or she is allowed to retake the exam once within the one year period from the date of their application approval and exam eligibility email. However, they must wait three months from the date of their last exam before retaking the exam.
  • The fee to retake the exam is $250 USD (for IIBA members) or $375 (for non-members) (plus GST/HST for Canadian residents). The applicant must complete the CCBA Exam Registration Form (located at www.iiba.org) and mail it with their fee to the address indicated above. Seating at the exam is limited and is filled on a first come first serve basis. Exam registration is not done until IIBA receives the exam fee.
  • If the applicant does not write and pass the exam within the one-year period, they must reapply (and pay full application and exam fees).
What is the validity of the certification? CCBA certification expires after three years from date of issue, after which the certification holder will need to renew their certification. Click here for more information.
